Respecting request to keep a situation secret...what is your point of view?

If he is well aware of how you feel about your step mother, then he very well did violate your privacy. I will tell you that I have asked my mom on many occions not to repeat things I tell her and then my step dad will call and ask me about it when I know I have only talked to my mom about it in confidence. Her point of view is that she talks to my stepdad about everything and that I needed to accept that. I told her then I guess I can't talk to you about things if I don't want him to know about them. I guess I don't understand cause I don't talk to my husband about things my sister in law tells me or things my friends tell me all the time if I know it is definitely something that they wouldn't want repeated. I don't think he was right with sharing this information if you flat out asked him not to.
