How to help my autistic brother lose fear of dogs?

My Brother is autistic, and he used to LOVE dogs when he was 4 or 5, then something happened, and now he screams hysterically when a dog comes within 5 feet of him. We don't own a dog, but we are thinking of adopting one soon, so how can i help him lose fear of dogs? REMEMBER, HE IS AUTISTIC
